The Meningococcal vaccine is given twice during adolescence, starting at age 11-12 years, for protection against this serious bacterial disease. The second dose is given
3-5 years after the first. The HPV vaccine series, 3 shots given over 6 months, is approved for ages 9 years through 26 years to help prevent cervical cancer, genital warts,
and anal cancer. It is now recommended for boys as well as girls. After age 6 months, the influenza vaccine is recommended annually. The flu vaccine is available as a shot.
